DuckDuckGo is a search engine that focuses on delivering the best anonymity and privacy experience. People use Duckduckgo for many reasons. They use it because it protects their privacy and does not store any personal information and history. The search engine also has zero-click info results, meaning that you can search for an actor or musician and see all the relevant pages with just one click. Duckduckgo is a great alternative to Google, as it is tracked very little, but is also a great alternative to other private search engines such as Startpage and Ixquick.

and How does it gain profit? How is duckduckgo able to run without making any ad revenue or personal data collection? The answer is simple: Duckduckgo has its own advertisement system, where it displays ads relevant to what you are searching for.

This means that you do not have to worry about being tracked by your searches on duckduckgo, because the only thing they store about you is just one search query. They don’t know who you are or where you are from. After they have stored the query, they delete it right away.

So, how does DuckDuckDo make money? DuckDuckGo is free to use and never asks for any personal information or tracks you in any way. This makes it different from other search engines like Google where ads are placed according to your location and internet history.

DuckDuckGo makes money in a way that is not intrusive or irritating to users. The company uses advertisements, where it displays relevant ads based on your search query. Since Duckduckgo does not store the user’s personal information, advertisements are shown according to geographical location and web browsing history. Due to this method of advertising revenue generation, results are accurate, but the ads sometimes show up on Duckduckgo for searches that really have nothing to do with anything related to the webpage.

Similarities between DuckDuckGo and google:

(1) They both have a good ranking for many of my queries.

(2) The results are accurate.

(3) They have fewer spam results compared to other search engines.

Differences between DuckDuckGo and google:

(1) The user can’t see the whole webpage on DuckDuckGo without clicking directly on it, while you can do this on google.

(2) On DuckDuckGo, you can’t see the date of the page.

(3) On DuckDuckGo, you can’t see which search results are most relevant to your query.

(4) Duckduckgo shows ads even on one-word searches where it has no relation with anything. So sometimes ads show up on strange searches like ‘Apple’.

(5) Duckduckgo has a smaller amount of results compared to Google, it doesn’t have as much information as Google does.

(6) In the mobile version of DuckDuckGo, you cannot search in the address bar. You have to do it by using the search button at the top right corner.

(7) Duckduckgo is less popular than Google, but it is catching up due to recent controversies about data protection and privacy on other famous search engines.

(8) Ads are not targeted based on your geographical location or web browsing history which makes it a good competitor to Google.

(9) Duckduckgo has only one search box, while Google has two search boxes one for the web and the other for images, videos, etc.

(10) In DuckDuckGo you get zero-click information results for some queries like ‘Apple’ where you get a wiki link in the results which you can click to see its definition. This is not available on Google, but Google does have knowledge graph cards for some queries like ‘Apple’.

(11) Duckduckgo has a bangs feature that lets you search directly on other websites without having to open their website first. For example, if I want to search for ‘wiki Tim Cook’ on Wikipedia, I can just type w, Tim Cook, on Duckduckgo and press enter. The wiki link will redirect to the results of my search on Wikipedia.

(12) You can’t see your past searches or delete them which you can do in Google. This means that they are stored indefinitely unless you clear them manually.

(13) Duckduckgo doesn’t have good current popularity compared to Google, but it is catching up because people are looking for alternatives to Google and DuckDuckgo offers some of the best alternatives according to the points I mentioned above.
